COMMUNICATION n. 6 ( next )

THE BLUE ITINERARY FOCUSES ON TARGETED SURGERY AND HARMONIOUS GROWTH OF THE PEDO PATIENT DURING THE ITALIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATIONS 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS FROM 13-15 JUNE 2019 IN CHIA, SARDEGNA ITALY
During the Italian Dental Association’s (AIO) 10th International Congress held in Chia, Sardegna ITALY from June 13-15 2019 the Blue Itinerary will guide participants through a series of courses and lectures dedicated to the pedo patient.

Increasing attention has been given to the pedo patient creating a closer collaboration between the pedodontist, orthodontist and surgeon that has led to the development of new techniques in the delivery of local anesthesia and less invasive surgical procedures resulting in a better psychological approach and a decrease in the need for sedation.

The Blue Itinerary begins on Thursday June 13th from 9:00am to 12:00am with a session dedicated to pedodontics and co-sponsored by the Italian Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SIOI), the Italian Society of Dental Traumatology (SIDT), the Association of Pediatric Oral Surgery (APOS) and promoted by the Facebook group Mad about Pediatric Dentistry.

Moderators Antonio De Pasquale, with a clinic in Mazara del Vallo in the province of Trapani in Sicily and Claudia Caprioglio from the University of Pisa, Italy will chair the session presented by SIOI President Luigi Paglia, APOS President Roberto Barone along with Maria el Khoury and Giovanni Olivi. Robert Barone from Florence who will lecture the new frontiers of pedo surgery underlines “pedo oral surgery is not small surgery and due to the psychological aspects of the child, their growth and specific pathologies encountered during the formative ages it requires a multidisciplinary approach.” Luigi Paglia, director of the Department of Maternal-Pediatric Dentistry at the Italian Institute of Stomotology and president of the Italian Society of Pediatric Dentistry will discuss new guidelines for radiographic diagnostics following dental alveolar trauma in the pedo patient while Maria El Khoury, assistant clinical instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the St. Joseph School of Dentistry in Beruit, Lebanon explores common oral lesions along with differential diagnosis. Giovanni Olivi, Scientific Secretary of the Italian Academy of Microscopic Dentistry as well as instructor in the Università Cattolica in Rome will discuss the Nd:YAG, Erbium and CO2 lasers. In pedo their use as an alternative to conventional surgery gives numerous advantages as well as increased acceptance by the child patient: no or reduced use of anesthesia, decontamination of the treated area, efficient incision and coagulation of soft tissues and often no need for sutures as well as decreasing healing time with its innovative photobiomodulation effect. Enrico Spinas from the University of Cagliari in Sardegna and Maurizio Bossu with a masters in Odontostomotology in the Child Patient from the University of Sapienza in Rome will discuss conservative pedodontic endodontic treatment.

Thursday the Blue Itinerary continues with keynote lecturer Domingo Martin (12:30pm - 3:30pm) speaking on New Procedures in Contemporary Orthodontics followed by the FACE lecture on the predictability of orthodontic outcome.

The Blue Itinerary ends Saturday June 15th with a session in Orthodontics held by Renato Cocconi from Parma, italy, Niko Perks (Bologna, Italy/ Geneva, Switzerland),Anna Mariniello (Naples, Italy), Giovanni Toxiri (Cagliari/ Nuoro Sardegna, Albert Wanning (Oral Care Division 3M) and Russian Valentina Gecha.

All this and much more await you at the Italian Dental Associations (AIO) 10th International Congress from June 13 - 15 in Chia, Sardegna ITALY.
